Outline (in English)

In this class, students will learn about the physical geography fields of junior high school and high school courses. Physical geography is a discipline that landform, climate, vegetation, and soil, which are various elements of the natural environment. In physical geography I, students learn about soils and vegetation zones, which are mostly related to climate and climate. In addition, we will look at weather disasters and acquire awareness of disaster prevention.
The three goals to be achieved are as follows.
(1) Acquire the knowledge and ability to respond to learning guidance in the field of natural geography in junior high and high school courses.
(2) Acquire basic knowledge of the formation of topography and the natural environment of the world and Japan.
(3) To deepen understanding of disaster risk reduction and environmental conservation in the world and Japan from a physical geographical perspective.
Classes are conducted mainly by lectures by faculty members. In the lectures, learning materials and PowerPoint are used to organize the basic knowledge and important matters of each lecture content. The learning materials will be uploaded to the teaching materials column of the learning support system. The study materials distributed each time are worksheets, so we will explain and answer them in the next study material as feedback.
At the end of the study materials distributed in each class, there is a review work, so complete it. Post answers and explanations in the next study material as feedback. Instructions will be given at the end of each class, but study materials will be delivered by the day before the class, so be sure to read them as preparation. The standard time required for review and preparation is 2 hours each, for a total of about 4 hours.
The grading method is as follows.
(1) Normal point 10%
The study materials distributed in each class are worksheets. Attendance is required every time, but completing the worksheet is the usual goal.
(2) Interim issues: 30%
Around the eighth lecture, you will be given an intermediate assignment based on the content of the lecture so far.
(3) Test 60%
In the 14th class, we will conduct an examination with all class contents as the scope of the questions. After the exam, we will give you answers and explanations as feedback. However, depending on the status of the new coronavirus infection, we may switch to a report.
(4) Standards
As a general rule, we use the raw score standard (absolute evaluation) indicated by the university.
