Outline (in English)
【Course outline】
The purpose of this course is to acquire basic and systematic knowledge about ethnic businesses and immigration entrepreneurship (including immigration entrepreneurs). I will provide the framework helping to understand ethnic businesses and immigration entrepreneurship. I will also give specific cases related to ethnic town and ethnic Korean entrepreneurship.
【Learning Objectives】
By the end of the course, students should be able to do following:
To explain the meaning of why we should focus on ethnic businesses.
To explain what ethnic businesses are.
To explain what the characteristics of ethnic businesses are.
To explain the changes in the industrial structure of ethnic businesses and its directions.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Before each class meeting, students will be expected to spend a few hours to read the article. Students are expected to suggest points at issue to discuss regarding the article in class. Students should choose an article and prepare to do its presentation in class.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】
The final grade will be calculated according to the following process.
・In-class contribution (discussion, participance in the class including question submission and presentation regarding the article 60 percent) 40 percent
・Final exam 60 percent

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
世界経済の発展とともに人と資本の移動は年々増加しています。経済的目的をもった人々の移動は移動先において様々な経済機会やビジネスを生み出します。そこで、入門外国語購読では、人々の移動に伴って登場するエスニックビジネス, 移民のアントレプレナーシップ、移民アントレプレナー（以下、エスニックビジネス）に関連する英語の学術論文を題材にそれらの特徴とともに理解する枠組みを習得することを目指します。具体的に、第一に何故エスニック・ビジネスに注目する学問的意義について考えます。第二に、エスニック・ビジネスとは何かを、事例に基づいてイメージづくりをします。第三に、それらの特徴を知り、適切な評価軸を得ます。第四に、ビジネスや産業構造の歴史的変化を通じてそれらの発展可能性を考察します。

2.エスニック・ビジネスとは何かを説明することができる。
3.エスニック・ビジネスの特徴について解説することができる。
4.エスニック・ビジネスの長期的な発展の方向性について述べることができる。

参加者全員は、教員が提示する英語論文を読んで、質問を用意して授業で提出します。
参加者は、順番で各論文について報告をします。
授業では、一つの論文を二回の授業で取り上げます。1回目は、報告者による発表を行い、(参加者の)質問を中心に議論をしていきます。
2回目の授業では、教員から、理論的な点の関連を解説します。
