Outline (in English)

Collecting/summarizing data and capturing the structure behind the data are important skills irrespective of fields. A collection of methods for summarizing the data so that we can see its features easily is called “descriptive statistics.” On the other hand, a collection of methods for inferring the data-generating structure is called “inferential statistics” or “statistical inference.” In this course, we learn basic elements of the “descriptive statistics” and “inferential statistics” based on “probability theory.”
