Outline (in English)
In this course, students will develop their ability to accurately read English texts, critically assess their content, and cultivate their ability to express personal opinions while actively participating in discussions. The topics covered will range across politics, society, and culture.
Students are expected to read assigned texts before class, review topics after class, and submit reports as required.
Assessment will be based on progress in English proficiency and active participation in activities (40%), the mid-term assignment (30%), and the final exam (30%).

政治、社会、文化などの様々なトピックの英文を正確に理解する読解力を身につけ、内容について批判的に検討し、自分の意見をまとめたうえで議論する力を養う。
到達目標Goal
本コースを通して達成することが期待される目標は以下の通りである。
(1) 多様なトピックに関連した語彙や構文を正確に理解し、使用することができる。
(2) 文章に関連する重要な背景知識を理解する。
(3) 文章内容について、様々な角度から批判的に検討することができる。
(4) トピックに関して、自分の意見を簡潔に表現することができる。

授業では、個々でのリーディング活動だけではなく、ペアワークやグループディスカッションなどのアクティビティを積極的に取り入れていく。学生は、これらの活動を通して、文章についての理解を深めると共に、トピックに対する自身の意見を英語で表現する力を身につけていくことが期待される。これらクラス内活動や宿題などに対するフィードバックは、適宜授業内で行う。
