Outline (in English)

The international community faces diversified transnational issues such as security issues, poverty, refugees, human rights abuse, organized crimes, financial crisis and so on. No single nation can control them anymore. And those issues cannot be understood within the nation-centered narratives. This course provides students with opportunities to become acquainted with "global issues" and learn that diversified actors have made efforts to tackle with the issues. Students will know that nations make contributions to the settlement of those issues in cooperation with regional and international institutions, businesses, civil society, and other entities. These efforts and social movements by the diversified actors can be called "global governance." Students will understand how the international community tries to formulate and manage "global governance."
