Outline (in English)

【Course Outline】
The aim of this class is to understand the life challenges in different ages, social roles, and environment within Japanese society. Students use their own observation skill and imagination skill to find micro-issues that is hidden within our daily life. Also, the student will learn how to come up with financially and socially sustainable solutions towards the social issues of their choice.
【Learning Objectives】
1.Students will be able to choose their own topics and communicate their own opinions through reports.
2.Students will be able to communicate their own opinions in the group discussion.
3.Students will be able to communicate their own thoughts in a concise manner using video as a communication tool.
【Learning Activities Outside of Classroom】
•Students should preview and review the lecture materials before and after every class.
•Students should actively observe their family, relatives, and people in the city, in the view of their preset roles, and take notes as they find anything interesting.
•Students should choose their own topics and find related articles or papers through library or WEB.
The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.
【Grading Criteria/Policy】
Overall evaluation will be based on the following distribution.
1)Participation in class activities (not attendance): 80%
2)Presentation: 10%
3)Assignments and reports: 10%
This grading method is a general rule, and students who have difficulty with regular activities will be dealt with and evaluated on an individual basis.
