Outline (in English)
【Course outline】
Explain the significance, purpose and method of the document organization (classification and catalog) in the library. The goal is to understand the document organization and master the knowledge and thinking skills necessary as a library librarian．
【Learning Objectives】
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
① Understand the meaning of the library material structure．
② Have acquired basic knowledge of classification and catalog.
③ Understand the current trends of material organizations in the world of libraries.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours. Depending on the content of the lecture, we will instruct you to investigate terms and matters in advance. Use textbooks, and reference books for preparatory learning. Also, in the review, try to organize your knowledge so that you can explain the important matters of the lesson contents by yourself.

Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following.
Final reportn:40%、Short test:40％、in class contribution:20%

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
図書館における資料組織（分類や目録）の意義、目的と方法について学ぶ。到達目標は、資料組織について理解を深めるとともに、図書館司書として必要な知識や思考力を習得することに置く。

①図書館における資料組織の意味を説明できる
②分類の基礎知識を修得している（主に用語や考え方）
③目録の基礎知識を修得している（主に用語や考え方）
④現在の図書館界における資料組織の動向を理解できる

授業形態は講義です。なお適宜、受講生の意見や発表も行い、学習支援システムhoppiを利用して提出やフィードバックを行います。
また内容理解を深めるために小テストを行います。

本授業の準備・復習時間は各２時間を標準とします。講義内容に応じて、事前にテキストを読み、用語などの調査をしておきましょう。また復習では、授業内容の重要事項を自分で説明できるように知識の整理を心がけてましょう。

普段から多くの図書館を見学して、図書館のイメージを作るとよいでしょう。また、大学以外の公共図書館を積極的に利用することも図書館の学習には必要ですから心がけてましょう。
