Outline (in English)

The purpose of this course is to learn the fundamentals of computational physics through simulation techniques and to understand the calculated results based on your investigation and contribution. Participants can experience simulation and analysis methods based on the principles of science. As an introduction to computational physics, you will choose a topic from the fields that interest you, such as mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, fluid mechanics, and optics, with the help of the instructor.

In this class, we begin with a survey of computer simulation methods. We will create simple programs or improve them to perform small-scale simulations and estimate physical quantities. The participants will also experience processing and visualization of the obtained results and will be required to submit a progress report each time to confirm their understanding of the computational methods. An explanation will be provided according to the level of understanding and importance of the reports and methods. Participants are expected to spend more than four hours per class.

Grating will be decided on the basis of grades for reports (50%), presentations, and in-class contributions (50%).
