< Course outline >
Recent topics in electromagnetic wave (especially, lightwave) transmission and communications are provided to understand the latest technologies and trends.
< Learning objectives >
By the end of the course, students are expected to acquire the following skills:
- Understanding of various functional devices in optical communication systems
- Knowledge of various optical communication devices, such as optical multiplexers, switches, lasers, and modulators.
< Learning activities outside of classroom >
Before each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content. Moreover, additional work is expected in case the report is assigned as homework.

Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following:
Presentation, prepared presentation material, and discussion of the topic
