Outline (in English)
< Course outline >
Recent topics in electromagnetic wave (especially, lightwave) transmission and communications are provided to understand the latest technologies and trends.
< Learning objectives >
By the end of the course, students are expected to acquire the following skills:
- Understanding of various functional devices in optical communication systems
- Knowledge of various optical communication devices, such as optical multiplexers, switches, lasers, and modulators.
< Learning activities outside of classroom >
Before each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content. Moreover, additional work is expected in case the report is assigned as homework.

Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following:

電磁波、特に光を用いた通信工学に関する最近のトピックスを学び、各種デバイス、システムの理解を深める。
到達目標Goal
最新の通信工学に関する英論文において、通信工学における問題解決法に実際に触れて、科学的、工学的発想を習得する。

対面講義とする。電磁波、特に光を用いた通信に関する英語文献を講読する。特に、光通信システムを構成するデバイス、ファイバに関する論文を選択し、基礎的な動作原理、考えうる応用を議論していく。
