Outline (in English)

This course introduces the astronomy about stars as the first step. The history and basics of astronomy are overviewed, and the Sun and solar system are reviewed. Then, observational properties of stars are introduced, and their inner structures are probed based on the knowledge of physics. After that, the evolution of stars, from their birth to death, are reviewed. The goal of this course is to understand how stars are formed, what mechanism is working to emit their energy (light), and how they finish their lives. Students will be expected to review the previous lecture before each class meeting. Grading will be decided based on term-end examination (70%) and in-class contribution (including in-class practice:30%).
