Outline (in English)

Course outline:
In digital transformation, systems are becoming more complex and sophisticated, and flexible and smart operations are required. The purpose of this class is to understand the basic concepts and to be able to apply and develop them to actual systems.

Learning objectives:
1. To be able to explain the overall picture and characteristics of system engineering in digital transformation, and the points of its sophistication
2. To be able to treat the event-driven system as a discrete event system for flexible system operation.
3. To be able to use feedback control theory, which is the basis of the system's control method.
4. To be able to think about future development such as autonomous overall optimization of the system

Learning activities outside of the class room:
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.

Grading criteria/Policy:
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following:
Midterm examination : 40%, Term-end examination : 40%, In-class exercise : 20%.
