Outline (in English)

【Course outline】A machine in includes parts with relative motion such as bearings. If these parts with relative motion do not operate smoothly, the machine cannot function properly. Tribology is the science and technology concerning friction, wear, lubrication, bearings, and other related aspects of moving parts in such equipment. It is a field within mechanical engineering that particularly demands scientific thinking. 【Learning Objectives】For students aspiring to research, develop, design, produce, and manage various types of equipment in the future, it is desirable to take this course to acquire approaches and fundamental knowledge for problem-solving. The first half of the course focuses on learning the basic knowledge of tribology, while the second half aims to deepen the understanding of tribology.【Learning activities outside of classroom】 Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend several hours to understand the course content. 【Grading Criteria /Policy】 The total score of 60 or more out of 100 is considered acceptable through small tests and the final exam.
