Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
In this class, we will explain how we are influenced by others and social situations in our lives and how we perceive others and social situations.
【Learning Objectives】
(1) To be able to explain basic concepts (theories and technical terms) and summary of relevant preceding research in social psychology.
(2) To be able to relate basic concepts and preceding research in social psychology to real-life and to psychologically consider social events that actually occur.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Participants are required to download and read the handouts from the class support system prior to the class. The standard preparation and review time for each class is 2 hours.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Comments and discussion about the class (30%):Participants will be evaluated on whether they (1) relate the basic concepts (theories and terminology) and preceding research in social psychology that they have learned in class to their real-life experiences, (2) express their thoughts, questions, interests, and concerns, and (3) actively discuss them.
Assignments such as short reports (30%):Participants will be evaluated on whether they (1) reflect on the contents of the class, (2) cite theories and preceding studies, and (3) express their own ideas and other necessary matters in response to the assigned content.
Examinations (40%):Participants will be evaluated on their correct understanding of theories and terminology through examinations.
