Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
On Earth, it is believed that there are a vast number of species, ranging from several million to tens of millions, including many unidentified organisms within this count.These organisms exert influence on the environment at various scales, and the environment impacts to the organisms. Ecology, as a discipline, strives to comprehend the holistic interconnection between organisms and the environment within the natural realm. It spans a spectrum of fields, encompassing both foundational and applied dimensions.

【Learning Objectives】
This class aims to help students grasp the basics and key concepts of ecology, with the goal of developing the necessary knowledge and analytical skills to explain natural phenomena and address various ecological challenges in real-world environments.

【Grading Criteria /Policy】
The final exam accounts for 50% of the total score, while the remaining 50% is assigned to short report assignments.
Short reports: students are expected to address candid questions presented by the instructor related to the class content. Students are obligated to submit their short reports by the following lecture.

【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Students are encouraged to conduct brief research on keywords relevant to the day's class topic in advance. The standard time allocated for preparation and review in this class is two hours.
