Outline (in English)

Course outline:
This course aims to help students learn how to grasp world history from new perspectives.
Learning objectives:
The goal of this course is to reconsider world history from new perspectives.
In the fall semester, we will attempt to approach world history from a micro perspective through diachronic readings of specific regions, states, and societies. Focusing on the Ottoman Empire (1299-1922), which ruled the Middle East, North Africa, and the Balkans for approximately 600 years, we will examine the development and transformation of states and societies from the early modern period to the modern period, and place them in the context of world history by comparing them with European modernity.
Learning activities outside of the classroom:
It is desirable to read the world history textbook used in high school in advance.
Grading Criteria /Policy:
Assignment (quiz): 20%
Term paper:80%
Grades will be evaluated based on the submission status of assignments (quizzes) that are required to be submitted after each lecture and term paper at the end of the semester.
