Outline (in English)
The purpose of this course is to help students learn economic reasoning in English. By the end of this course, students should be able to read economics textbooks in English. Students are expected to solve problem sets assigned and study at least 4 hours for preparing for each class. Final grade will be determined by your performance on assignments (30%) and the term paper or final exam (70%).

This course is intended to introduce basic concepts in economics in English. We focus on macroeconomics this semester. The objective of this lecture is to apply basic principle to real economic issues.

We use an economic textbook written in English and learn how we can understand economic issues in English.

All the materials are in English, but teaching is conducted in Japanese. We also study how we use real data to answer the economic questions in the economic evidence section in each chapter. Submissions of homework and feedback to those are conducted through the online learning support system.
