Outline (in English)

This course aims to teach students basic knowledge and research methods about the Japanese classical history book, " Rikkokushi"(Six National Histories of Japan chronicling the history of Japan from the earliest times to 887). At the end of the course, students are expected to be able to read Japanese classical records and investigate them.
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours understanding the course contents.
The overall class grade will be determined by the following criteria: Quizzes and Reports: 80%, Contribution during class: 20%
