Outline (in English)

Course outline:
This lecture provides an overview of the organisational development of the Christian Church through medieval church history. At the same time, the relationship between the church and secular society will be traced to understand the historical foundations of politics, society and culture in medieval Europe.

Learning Objectives:
The goals of this course are to acquire a basic knowledge of medieval church history, to understand the nature of universal power focusing on the papacy, and to rethink the relationship between religion and society.

Learning activities outside of classroom:
Students should consolidate their understanding of the course content by reviewing the handouts.

Grading Criteria/Policy:
Term-end report: 70%, in class contribution: 30%
