Outline (in English)
The course will deal with issues related to human mobility through reading and discussion of the World Development Report 2023: Migrants, Refugees, and Societies. Students will also develop their English reading and data analysis skills.
By the end of the course, students are expected to have a basic understanding of the global human mobility issues and be able to express their own opinions, backed up by the critical insights developed in the course.
Prior to each session, students are expected to have read the relevant chapters of the text. Preparation and review time is 2 hours each.
Grading will be determined by presentation (40%), active participation (30%), and final report (30%).

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
紛争や経済状況など、様々な原因により生じる人の移動は、社会課題として扱われる面があります。しかし、世界史をみてみると、人の移動が衝突や摩擦だけでなく、発展の契機となったり、文化の伝播などを引き起こしてきたことも事実です。本講義では、人の移動にまつわる現代の事実と課題について、世界銀行による「World Development Report 2023」を読み、議論します。

・国際社会の事象を多角的に考察する視座を得る。
・英語の文献を読みこなす能力を身につける。

教材は英語で書かれています。授業は第3回以降、演習形式で行います。各週、発表とそれに基づく議論で構成されます。発表者のみならず全受講生が、各週に割り当てられている箇所を事前に読む予習が求められます。最終回に期末レポートに関する学生発表を予定しています。予習と教室での議論に意欲的に取り組む受講生を期待します。
