Outline (in English)

[Course Outline]
This is the second part of a series of lectures on international economic cooperation, with emphasis on Japan's Official Development Assistance. In an increasingly globalized world, disparities are growing not only in income but also in other aspects between countries. Eliminating poverty and disparity is the first goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Economic cooperation is one of the ways to reduce poverty and disparity and to build new countries, societies, and the world together. This lecture aims to provide students with a basic knowledge of international economic cooperation in order for them to be involved in building a society in which people can live better lives.

[Learning Objectives]
Through this course, students will 1) acquire basic knowledge of international cooperation. This basic knowledge includes the history and structure of economic cooperation, the theory behind it, the results and impact of economic cooperation to date, and new challenges and initiatives in recent years. 2) Based on this basic knowledge, students are expected to be able to formulate their own opinions and ideas about Japan's role in the international community, and to be able to communicate them to others. 3) In addition, students are expected to be able to explain the significance of partnership in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

[Learning Activities outside of classroom]
