Outline (in English)

In social science, the purpose of cross-national studies is to gain an insight into commonalities and differences in social organizations/institutions between countries. This course examines the development of the labor movement and industrial relations in the United States from the 1930s to the present. It also examines "intersectionality" of the labor movement and social issues (e.g., environment and racial issues). In examining these topics, the course considers implications of the U.S. experiences in the field of industrial relations for their Japanese counterparts.
