Outline (in English)
The aim of this seminar is to reconsider Sartre's existential philosophy, compared to recent “new existentialism”. We read mainly Sartre’s monumental work, Being and Nothingness: An Essay on Phenomenological Ontology (1943), to examine some possibilities and problems of sartrian existentialism from the point of view of today’s philosophical discourses concerning the “existence”, human or not.
At the end of the course, students are expected to gain a basic understanding of the main issues in Sartre's "Being and Nothingness", as well as to be able to discuss the contentious points and problems of existentialism at some level.
Before each class meeting, students will be expected to have read the designated texte. Your required study time is at least one hour for each class meeting.
Evaluation is based on class presentation and participation (70%) and end-of-term reports (30%)

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
J.-P. サルトルの主著『存在と無』(L’être et le néant, 1943)を通年で講読します。難著であり、かつ大著なので、毎回かなりの分量を自力で考えながら 読み進めることが求められます。講読を通じて、『存在と無』の主要な論点について基本的な理解を得ると同時に、フランス実存主義の争点や問題点について、一定程度の水準で考察、議論、論述できるようになることが授業の目的です。

・サルトルの実存哲学の主要な論点、争点、問題点について、基本的な理解を得る。
・また、レポートや発表を通じて、学んだ知見を一定程度の水準で哲学的に考察、議論、論述できるようになる。
