Outline (in English)

Course outline: This course aims at deepening students' understanding of philosophical scepticism, especially why it has played so imortant a roll in philosophy by examining ancient scepticism, Descartes, Hume and modern sceptical argument.
Learning Objectives: To understand the motives and arguments of philosophical scepticism and to get a sense of finding philosophical problems in daily life.
Learning activities outside of classroom: Before each class meeting, students should carefully read the assigned part of the text and construct their opinions and after each meeting students should write a short paper concerning the topic of the day. Students are expected to spend four hours for each class meeting.
Grading Criteria: In-class activities: 70%, term-end test: 30%
