The aim of this course is to help students acquire an understanding of the problems of German philosophy has its origin in Christianity from the viewpoint of Nietzsche's critical thoughts that tried to release human life from religious restraint. It deals with four themes as follow: 1. Nietzsche's "Nihilism" to be opposed to re-Christianization in the German society, 2. Christianity as "Platonism suitable for the populace" and Morality as the product of the "ressentiment", 3. Limits of the human reason in the German philosophical theories such as following: Kant's moral principle called categorical imperative, Fichte's universalistic concept of nation, and Hegel's interpretation of freedom as mutual recognition, 4. The thought experiment called "eternal return" in order to reach the state of the "super-human". By the end of the course, students should be able to give careful consideration to the possibility and limit of our reason.
