Outline (in English)

[ Course outline ]
This course deals with the philosophy of perspectivism. The concept of “perspective” originally means the painting technique that expresses three-dimensional space on a two-dimesional plane, and generally “point of view”. But “perspective” as a philosophical metaphor means the structure of human cognition. Human existence as the finite individual experiences the world in its unique “now and here” in which it lives. Perspectivism is well known as a centrall concept in Nietzsche's thought, but in this class we will discover its origins and forms of development in the genealogy of western subjectivism. The student will acquire basic knowledge about the philosophical perspectivism and its pluralistic character.

[ Learning Objectives ]
The goals of this course are to
(1) learn basic knowledge about the history and development of philosophical perspectivism.
(2) understand as contemporary problems and its meaning of the perspective thinking.

[ Learning activities outside of classroom ]
Before/ after each class meeting, students will be expected to have read the teaching materials and reference books. Your required study time is at least four hours for each class meeting.
