Outline (in English)

Among the emerging and developing countries called " Global South", the Asian economy in particular continues to grow strongly and is a driving force behind the global economy. The region also leads the world in the horizontal division of labor between cross-border processes and the network of free trade agreements (FTAs) that drive them, making it a region of paramount importance for the Japanese economy. The escalating conflict between the US and China is forcing a restructuring of its complex supply chains and posing a major challenge to Japan. In contemporary international relations, politics and economics, geo-politics and 'geo-economics' are inseparable. In this course we will seek to understand Asian geopolitics through the prism of macroeconomics, industry and trade.
