Outline (in English)

Have you heard the term 'Global South' used a lot these days? It is a collective term for emerging and developing countries that are gaining a stronger voice in the international community because of their population power and high economic growth. Southeast Asia and South Asia in particular are also at the forefront of the escalating US-China conflict. Japan's relations with Asia are becoming increasingly important, and you are bound to come into contact with them in the future, whether you like it or not. Mutual understanding with our neighbours is essential for the future of "Japan in Asia". In this course, while introducing the latest developments in Asia, we will strive to understand Asian geopolitics by broadening our perspective to the "vertical axis" of history and the "horizontal axis" of international relations.
