Outline (in English)

The aim of this lecture is to help you acquire the knowledge you need as a voter from a wide range of political concepts.
We need to be aware that what makes democracy possible is not ``politicians'' or ``activists,'' but each individual citizen, and that it is essential for the people to be able to exist as the protagonists. Understand, based on knowledge, that politics is not a ``distant entity'' or ``something that should be left to someone else,'' but that it has a huge impact on daily life.
To this end, we will discuss the characteristics of the Liberal Democratic Party, which has almost monopolized the government since the establishment of the 1955 regime through the so-called conservative coalition in 1955, its system for maintaining power, movements of opposition parties, voting behavior of voters, and the actual state of election campaigns conducted by politicians. , learn the basics for understanding contemporary Japanese politics. In particular, from this year to next year, national elections for the House of Representatives and the House of Councilors will be held, so whether it is national or local politics, as a voter, it is important not to rely on groundless rumors or temporary emotions, but rather to act logically. Acquire the ability to think objectively.
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following: term-end examination: 40%、three times short reports : 45%、in class contribution(including re-action papers): 15%
