Outline (in English)

The basic features of the U.S. Constitution will be discussed, with an appearance of its historical background, followed by a reading of its best commentary, "The Federalist" (Iwanami Bunko).
The goal of this course is to enhance your understanding of the structure of American governmental system and to compare it with the counterpart of Japan.
In-person lecture
After each lecture we will have the time for discussion about it.
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend 4 hours to understand the course content.
Grading Criteria /Policy
(1) Two short reports to be submitted during the class period (30%)
First short report (15%)
Second small report (15%)
(2) Final examination (70%)
