Outline (in English)

The class will treat some actual problems we are confronting in Japanese society. We will discuss them from different viewpoints; international students' and Japanese students' ones. The class will provide students with opportunities to approach the problems through reading papers, presentations, and discussions with those who have different cultural and social backgrounds.

Goal:(1) Learn basic knowledge about the topics and inquire the issues with deep interest (2)Acquire an attitude to think about issues from different viewpoints by being exposed to different opinions.
Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.): Two hours
Grading criteria : Assignments(30%), Presentation(20%), Final report(50%)
