(Course outline)By reading the first half David Inglis's An Invitation to Social Theory (Polity 2019, co-authered with Christopher Thorpe) carefully, the course seeks to help you understand the basic logics of the main theoretical paradigms of sociological theories and to consider their significance and validity in the contemporary world.
(Learning Objectives)For the students of sociology, it is very important to learn the basics of sociological theory. The objective of this class is to understand the "ways of theoretical thinking" in sociology and to develop skills of using the main categories and ideas of sociological theories for your own research.
