Outline (in English)

Developmental biology is an academic field that has intrigued biologists since ancient times. By the end of the 20th century, the mechanisms underlying developmental processes became clear at the molecular level, revealing close associations with human diseases, crop yields, and more. Therefore, the study of developmental biology provides valuable information for medical and agricultural applications. In this lecture, we offer an overview of developmental biology and examine its connections with other fields such as regeneration, evolution, medicine, and agriculture.
Outside classroom learning for this course, such as preparation and review, is set at a standard of 4 hours. No preparatory learning is required. A basic understanding of molecular biology and cellular biology is sufficient. Due to the vast scope covered in the class, it is not possible to explain everything in detail. Therefore, independent learning after class is expected, especially regarding areas of personal interest.
The evaluation will be based on the final exam results. Additionally, the scores from each quiz and the results of the two midterms will also be taken into consideration. The weightage for each component is as follows: final exam (80%), quizzes (10 quizzes, 1% each), midterms (2 exams, 5% each).
