Outline (in English)

This course provides an introduction to structure and function of proteins. Topics covered in this course include: structure and chemical properties of amino acids, relationships between primary structures and functions of proteins, chemical interactions for protein folding, hierarchical structure of proteins, globular proteins and fibrous proteins, structure and catalytic function of enzymes, and structure and function of antibodies. Students are expected to spend 4 hours outside of class time for preparation and review. After the lecture, students are expected to review the lecture materials and notes, read reference books, etc. A list of answers to questions about the lecture will be uploaded to Hoppii within a few days. Carefully read the questions and answers given by other students to deepen your understanding. The evaluation will be based on 10% of the assignments submitted for each class, 40% for the mid-term examination, and 50% for the final examination.
