Outline (in English)

In this class, you will read English texts that focus on current social issues in Japan. You will practice not only systematic reading but listening skills to check your comprehension. By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:1.to use an English Japanese dictionary appropriately 2. to accurately understand English texts 3. to read aloud English sentences appropriately 4. to accurately listen to English sentences. University guidelines suggest preparation and review are around an hour a week for a one-credit course. Final grade will be calculated according to the following process in-class contribution (40%) and final test (60%).

この授業は英語のテキストを正確に読解しながら、現在の日本が直面する様々な課題と将来の展望について考えていくことを目的としています。

1.英和辞典を適切に使えるようになること
2.英語の文章の内容を正確に理解できるようになること
3.適切な英語の音読ができるようになること
4.正確に英語の音声を聞き取ることができるようになること

授業の進め方：
演習形式で行います。
1.paragraph reading （リーディング）
2.comprehension check （読解の確認）
3.reading aloud（音読練習）and dictation（リスニング）
フィードバック方法：
授業の初めに、前回の授業で提出されたリアクションペーパーをいくつかを取り上げ、全体に対してフィードバックを行います。
