Outline (in English)

This class mainly introduces the maintenance and management of steel bridges, and is intended for graduate students in the division of civil and environmental engineering.
The class introduces maintenance planning, inspection, diagnosis, countermeasures, etc., for steel bridges through case studies of countermeasures and monitoring of steel bridges.
At the end of the class, the goal is to deepen the understanding of various matters related to the maintenance and management of steel bridges, and to acquire specialized knowledge equivalent to that of a steel infrastructure inspection engineer.
Although the class consists of lectures and exercises, it is important to prepare and review in order to understand of the class.
The standard time of preparation and review is 2 hours each.
Final grade will be based on term-end report (70%) and in-class discussion (30%).
