Outline (in English)

・Outline
By learning about log production, wood supply chain and processing, and wooden design methods, you can deepen the integral understanding from forestry to construction. The purpose is to discuss effective methods of utilizing
domestic wood material.

・Goals
Understand the problems faced by Japanese forestry.
Understand the technical and socio-economic aspects of wood production.
Experience carpentry techniques and understand wood processing.
Case study of wooden architectural design and understand the effective use of wood.

・Learning activities outside of classroom
Pre-research using the internet on the topic of each lecture. Preparation for the lecture and the review requires two hours respectively.

・Grading Criteria /Policies
Evaluate a written exam result (80%) and active remarks (20%). For small class the written exam can be replaced by an oral exam.

・Others
Classes will be held on weekdays, but off-campus trainings (all day) will be held on Saturday. Once the schedule is decided, it will be posted on the Learning Management System.
In order to carry out off-campus trainings safely, the maximum number of students will be limited to approximately 14 students. If the number of participants exceeds the limit, a selection process will be conducted.
Transportation expenses are required for off-campus training.
