Outline (in English)

The thermal environment is the closest environment surrounding humans and significantly impacts health and comfort. However, air conditioning operation differences can lead to energy expenditure and carbon dioxide emissions. Students will learn about thermal comfort and the optimal thermal environment while considering its impact on the global climate. In addition, through hands-on experience in measurement and evaluation, students will deepen their understanding of thermal environment planning theory.

Through this class, students will be able to:
(1) Master the theory of thermal comfort
(2) Acquire measurement methods and analysis techniques for environmental, psychological, and physiological quantities.
(3) Acquire thermal environment planning and environmental control methods for buildings of various uses.

The course consists of lectures on fundamental theories and exercises. Students are expected to prepare the relevant parts of the textbook and handouts in advance, attend and understand the lectures, and master the topics by practicing analysis and measurement within the limited time available.

Students are expected to review the measurement and analysis exercises in the class. The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.

Grades will be determined by the assignments (100%) during the lecture. Grades will not be given to students who do not submit assignments.
