Outline (in English)
This course introduces the relationship between natural hazards and human activity in and around Aso and Shimabara, the famous of volcanic area in Kyushu, Japan.
The goals of this course are to understand the method of field survey and the role of natural phenomena from positive and negative perspective.
Before/after each class meeting students will be expected to spend one
hour to understand the course content.
Grading will be decided based on the quality of the student’s
performance (50%) and report (50%).

熊本・阿蘇・島原を中心に「火・風・土・水」をテーマに自然災害と人間生活との関係を考える。
到達目標Goal
現地調査の方法を学びつつ、地圏で起きている自然現象について人間生活における正の側面および負の側面を地理学的に捉えることができるようになる。

基本的には、終日屋外で実施する（一部、屋内施設を利用する）。
主な見学地域（予定）は以下の通り。
1日目：熊本県熊本市
2日目：熊本県益城町・南阿蘇村・阿蘇市
3日目：長崎県島原市・南島原市
見学場所の都合によっては、一部を周辺地域に変更することもある。
集合・解散場所は全日JR熊本駅前とし、宿泊先は熊本駅周辺において個々人で予約手配を行う。
実習内容について、現地にてその都度フィードバックを行う。

授業時間外の学習（準備学習・復習・宿題等）Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
事前に巡検先の地勢や地理的な概要および近年当該地域で発生している自然災害について復習しておくとともに、レポートでまとめてみたいテーマについても検討しておくこと。
本授業の準備学習・復習時間は、合わせて1時間を標準とする。

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
全日程の出席が成績評価の前提である。
授業への積極的な姿勢（50%）および事後レポート（50%）により評価する。

動きやすい恰好（履き慣れた靴．スニーカーでよい）・防寒着・カメラ（レポートに挿入する写真を撮影するため．スマートフォン可）・野帳（コクヨのSketchBook：方眼紙タイプを推奨）・筆記用具（赤，青，黄，緑の色鉛筆が1本ずつあるとよい）
その他の重要事項Others
野外活動が中心となるため、防寒・防風対策を念入りにしてほしい。
徒歩や公共交通機関による移動を念頭に動きやすい服装・装備で臨むこと。
