Outline (in English)

According to the definition of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, an island is a piece of land formed naturally, completely surrounded by water. The Japanese archipelago consists of over 15,000 islands. What kind of generalities and regional characteristics can be seen in these long north-south archipelago? The purpose of this course is to learn many islands based on maps, charts, statistics, videos, photographs, and various other materials, and to comprehend their general nature and island diversity.
Before/after each class, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the class content.
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following:
Normal score: 50% Final exam: 50%
