Outline (in English)
Historical materials of early modern local documents are cultural assets in various parts of Japan. In addition, they are core historical materials used for researching the regional history of early modern Japan. However, it is difficult for the people of this age to decipher the documents written in Kuzushi-Ji (classical cursive handwriting characters) on Japanese paper using Indian ink. In this course, students will learn the significance of regional documents as historical studies, acquire basic knowledge of early modern Japanese regional history, and develop elementary skills to decipher Kuzushi-Ji.
We will engage in interactive teaching while using active learning.
Please prepare for the distributed materials by checking a dictionary.
Be sure to review after class.
Glade evaluation: Final exam (100%), Attendance at all sessions is the general rule. In case of absence, points will be deducted from the evaluation of the final examination.

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
近世の地方文書は、さまざまな歴史資料の中で日本各地にある文化財です。また、近世地域史を研究するうえで中心となる史料です。しかし、和紙に墨を用いてくずし字で書かれた地方文書は、現代人には容易に読み解くことができません。本授業では、地方文書の史料学的な意義、近世地域史研究の知識を身につけるとともに、くずし字の基礎的な読解力を養うことを目的とします。

③近世地域史研究の知識を身につける。

くずし字の独習法、近世地域史研究に向けた独習法、授業時間内試験
授業時間外の学習（準備学習・復習・宿題等）Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
配布した資料（古文書のコピーなど）を辞書を引きながら予習してください。授業後は必ず復習をしてください。
本授業の準備学習・復習時間は、各2時間を標準とします。
テキスト（教科書）Textbooks
なし。資料を配布します。
参考書References
くずし字の辞書。授業では、『増訂近世古文書解読字典』（柏書房）にもとづいて解説します。今後も日本近世史を学びたいと考える受講者、日本近世史で卒論を書きたいと考える受講者には『くずし字用例辞典（普及版）』（東京堂出版）を推薦します。すでにくずし字の辞書を所持している場合は、改めて買い揃える必要はありません（ただし、『くずし字解読辞典』（東京堂出版）のみを所持している場合は、『近世古文書解読字典』も所持することをお勧めします）。必ず辞書を側に置いて授業に臨んでください。
成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
成績の評価は期末試験（100％）。全日程の出席を原則とします。欠席した場合は、期末試験の評価から減点します。
