Outline (in English)
English 6 is the follow up course to English 5. The course will focus on helping students acquire the critical reading and listening strategies necessary for students to become more independent learners that can deal with the educational expectations and learning environments commonly found in English-speaking countries.

English 6は、English 5のフォローアップコースです。このコースでは、学生が英語圏での学習環境に対応するため、そして学生がより自立して学ぶために重要なリーディングとリスニングの能力を習得することに重点を置いています。
到達目標Goal
The goal of the course is to develop students’ reading and listening skills as not only passive receptive tasks, but also as interactive processes, which lead to thinking, speaking and writing. Course activities and content will include extensive practice listening to and reading from contemporary issue-based materials, classroom discussion of those materials, writing opinion papers based on those materials, and making presentations on related topics.

Using a variety of reading, writing, listening and speaking activities, students will work individually, in pairs, and in groups. Students will also do presentations. Students will be expected to do weekly reading assignments and summarize the content and give opinions. Students will also be writing short summaries on newspaper/magazine articles and giving their opinions. Students will receive feedback orally and in written form from the instructor.

Students are expected to do at least two hours per week of homework. Taste will include exercises from the textbook, reading summarizing newspaper and magazine articles, watching TedTalks and summarizing the content.
