Outline (in English)
English 5 is the first English class offered exclusively to FIC students wishing to do their Study Abroad in an English-speaking country and taught only in English. The course will focus on helping students to become more independent learners.

English 5は、英語圏への留学を希望するFICの学生のための英語クラスで、英語のみで授業が行われます。このコースは、学生がより自立して学ぶ力を習得することに重点を置いています。
到達目標Goal
The goal of the course is to develop students’ ability to use English to express their opinions more easily, find and analyze information from various forms of media and acquire useful vocabulary. Course activities will include pair work, group work, classroom discussions, and writing short papers.

Using a variety of reading, writing, listening and speaking activities, students will work individually, in pairs, and in groups. Students will also do presentations. Students will be expected to do weekly reading assignments and summarize the content and give opinions. Students will also be writing short summaries on newspaper/magazine articles and giving their opinions. Students will receive feedback orally and in written form from the instructor.

Students are expected to do at least two hours per week of homework. Taste will include exercises from the textbook, reading summarizing newspaper and magazine articles, watching TedTalks and summarizing the content.
