【Course outline】
Geoscience is generally known as a natural science covering the earth and its lithosphere, atmosphere, and hydrosphere, including astronomy in the case of school education. This course is a continuation of Chigaku-Gairon-I (Introduction to Geoscience I). Students will learn not only the natural science aspects of geoscience, but also the sociological contributions of geoscience, such as the assessment of the impact of natural disasters on human activities.
【Learning Objectives】
The goal is to understand the relationship between the Earth and humankind, including how life on Earth was born and evolved, the structure of the atmosphere and oceans, climate change caused by changes in these structures, and natural disasters brought about by earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and various other phenomena on the Earth. In addition, students will be exposed to news and science programs related to geoscience on a regular basis and will acquire an attitude of knowing the latest developments in science beyond the scope of ordinary textbooks.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Students are expected to gather information on recent topics related to natural disaster news and government disaster prevention measures through newspapers, magazines, the Internet, and other media, and use this information to prepare reports and other materials. The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
「地学」は地球とそれを構成する岩石圏、気圏、水圏を対象とする自然科学の総称であり、学校教育においては天文分野も含まれる。本講義は地学概論Ⅰから続くものであり、おもに地球表面で起こると諸現象と人間活動について学び、地学の自然科学的な側面だけでなく、それが及ぼす自然災害の影響評価など社会学的な貢献についても習得する。
到達目標Goal
地球上に住む生命がどのように誕生して進化してきたのか、また大気や海洋の構造やその変化がもたらす気候変動、そして地震や火山噴火など地球上での様々な現象によってもたらされる自然災害といった、地球と人類との関係を理解することを目標とする。また普段から地学に関連したニュースや科学番組に接し、教科書の範囲を超えた科学の最新事情を知る姿勢を身につける。

宇宙から始まり、地球の構造と構成物質、地球内部から働く営力としてプレートテクトニクスとそれに付随する地震、地殻変動、火山活動について紹介していく。秋学期（２）では地球表層で起こる様々な事象を取り上げ、生命の歴史から気候変動、自然災害等について説明する。中間課題に対しては、①採点もしくは個別評価・添削、②全体講評、③模範解答や優秀リポート等の掲示、のうちいずれかを実施する。

地学概論Ⅱで学ぶ地球表層の現象と人間活動についてダイジェストで紹介する。
第2回[オンライン/online]：地球誕生からの歴史1
地球誕生46億年の歴史のうち地球ができてから多様な生命が誕生するまでを説明する。
第3回[オンライン/online]：地球誕生からの歴史2
地球誕生46億年の歴史のうちおもに古生代以降の生命の進化について説明する。
第4回[オンライン/online]：大気と海洋
大気と海洋の構造、表層や深層の循環などについて説明する。
第5回[オンライン/online]：気候変動１
おもに第四紀の氷期・間氷期サイクルとそのメカニズムについて説明する。
第6回[オンライン/online]：気候変動２
歴史時代の気候変動や現在の地球温暖化について考える。
第7回[オンライン/online]：侵食と堆積1
地球表層で生じる外的作用としておもに山の侵食を司る斜面移動や氷河地形について説明。
第8回[オンライン/online]：侵食と堆積2
地球表層で生じる外的作用としておもに川の侵食と堆積について説明。
第9回[オンライン/online]：侵食と堆積３
地球表層で生じる外的作用として海岸や海底の侵食・堆積について説明。
第10回[オンライン/online]：気象災害
台風など大雨を誘引とした斜面崩壊や河川氾濫による災害について考える。
第11回[オンライン/online]：地震災害
地震の揺れに伴う液状化や活断層による地盤の変位などの災害について考える。
第12回[オンライン/online]：津波災害
津波の浸水による災害と防災対策について考える。
第13回[オンライン/online]：火山災害
火山噴火に伴う災害と防災対策について考える．
第14回[オンライン/online]：防災教育と地学
地学の防災上の意義と社会的貢献について説明する。
授業時間外の学習（準備学習・復習・宿題等）Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
普段から自然災害のニュースや行政の防災施策などに関する最近の話題を新聞、雑誌、インターネットなど媒体を問わず各自で情報収集し、リポート作成等に役立てる。本授業の準備学習・復習時間は、各2時間を標準とする。
