Outline (in English)
【Course outline】
This course is designed to help students understand the problematic nature of representative studies of mass communication theory and to examine the impact of mass media on contemporary society. In particular, this lecture will focus on the influence on media content, and will use video materials to deepen understanding.
【Learning Objectives】
The student is able to understand the problematic nature of representative studies of mass communication theory. The student is able to understand the impact of mass media on media contents.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】
(1) Mid-term report=30% Books in the range up to the 8th session are designated.
(2) Periodic examinations = 50% (3) Assignments for each class session = 20%.

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
マス・コミュニケーション理論の代表的な研究の問題意識を理解し、現代社会にマスメディアが与える影響を考察していきます。特に本講義では、メディアコンテンツ（内容）への影響に着目し、映像資料なども使いながら理解を深めていきます。

受講生が、マス・コミュニケーション理論の代表的な研究の問題意識を理解できている。マスメディアのメディアコンテンツ（内容）への影響を理解できている。

マス・コミュニケーション理論の代表的な研究を講義形式紹介していきます。毎回リアクションペーパーを通じ受講者自身で講義内容を振り返ってもらいます。中間でマス・コミュニケーション理論の指定書籍をまとめるレポートを書いてもらいます。また、定期試験でマス・コミュニケーション理論に対する理解度を試します。リアクションペーパーとレポートについては、授業中にコメントをしてフィードバックします。
