Outline (in English)

Chinese Communication
[Course Outline] A Mandarin Chinese course for students with no background in Chinese. Students will be offered training in applying their newly gained Chinese skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Special emphasis will be placed on developing accurate pronunciation. Students are also recommended to enroll in Basic Chinese 1 held during the spring semester.
[Learning Objectives] The goal is to develop the basics of four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
[Learning Activities Outside of Classroom] Assignments, which would be about an hour work, are given every week.
[Grading Criteria] Term-end examination: 60% (written test: 40%, oral reading: 20%), weekly assignments: 30%, in-class contribution: 10%.
