Outline (in English)

This course will focus on Chinese pronunciation, how to read pronunciation notation, reading and writing kanji (simplified letters), and provide practice applying basic vocabulary, grammar and conversation patterns.

The goal of the course is to help students master Chinese pronunciation, reading and writing Pinyin (phonetic notation), reading and writing the most widely used Chinese characters (simplified Chinese characters), and basic vocabulary, grammar, and conversation.

The standard study period for this class is one hour outside of class time for preparation, review, etc.] Repetition is the key to mastering a language. Students are encouraged to practice the sentences learned in class aloud as often as possible.

Attendance is a prerequisite for evaluation. Evaluation will be based on the total of the final exam score (70%) and the performance in the class (30%).
