Outline (in English)
In this class you will be learning and practicing some of the common methods used in English test-taking eg: describing, listening, reading comprehension, and writing. Specific tests can be practiced outside of class for homework. The method of practicing will be learning about important historical figures in Japan's history. There are three themes: (1) Japanese in Japan, (2) Japanese outside Japan, and (3) foreigners in Japan. At the end of each theme you will do a presentation on someone from history who interests you.

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
このクラスでは、英語のテストによく使われる方法、例えば、描写、リスニング、読解、ライティングを学び、練習します。具体的なテストは授業外の宿題として練習することができます。練習方法は、日本史における重要な歴史上の人物について学習します。テーマは、（1）日本の中の日本人、（2）日本国外の日本人、（3）日本の中の外国人の3つです。各テーマの最後には、自分が興味を持った歴史上の人物についてプレゼンテーションを行います。

例1：歴史や伝記を使った受験対策を紹介する。
例2：日本史の知識を身につけることで、英語力を理解し伸ばすことを目的とする。
例 1:This course introduces test-taking strategies using history and biography.
例 2:The aim of this course is to help students acquire knowledge of Japanese history so as to be able to understand and develop their English skills.

授業の進め方と方法Method(s)（学期の途中で変更になる場合には、別途提示します。 /If the Method(s) is changed, we will announce the details of any changes. ）
例 1:Every four weeks, students will complete a research project. Three historical figures will be chosen, researched, and presented on in small groups.
例 2:For homework, students will be expected to learn about their topic, take notes, and bring those notes to class for discussion.
例 3: Between each presentation will be three topics each on a different figure. In each class you will write, learn vocabulary, answer reading questions, discuss, and watch videos.
例 4: Feedback will be provided immediately in google classroom. Feedback for presentation projects will be provided in written form in google classroom.
例1：4週間ごとに、研究プロジェクトを行います。歴史上の人物を3人選び、調査し、小グループで発表する。
例2：宿題として、トピックについて学び、メモを取り、そのメモをクラスに持ち込んで議論することが期待される。
例3：各回の発表の間に、それぞれ異なる図に関する3つのトピックを用意する。各授業では、記述、語彙の学習、読解問題の解答、ディスカッション、ビデオ鑑賞を行います。
例4：フィードバックはgoogle classroomで即座に提供される。プレゼンテーション・プロジェクトに対するフィードバックは、google classroomに文書で提供されます。

In this class you will do a presentation on an important foreigner historical figures inside Japan.

例 1:Students will be expected to be self-motivated and do at least an hour of research each week to prepare for project presentations.
例 2:Proof of research in the form of notes and materials will be checked in class.
