Outline (in English)
The course will give students experience with a range of business topics, and develop their ability to communicate their ideas on these topics both in written and spoken form. We will use case studies of real or simulated business situations to reflect on key points and examine the language associated with them. Each week, class discussion will focus on the relevant issue in the readings and video texts which we will use.
Students will have regular homework (research, reading and writing) assignments. Students are expected to review the course materials and their own class notes regularly: this is important for progress with the language and course content.

Each class meeting will include a review of key points in the week’s topic using short reading and writing tasks, along with pair- and groupwork designed for Active Learning. The in-class topic and tasks will prepare for small-scale project-based research, and there will be opportunities for students to give short follow-up presentations to the class. Feedback will be delivered in-class each alternate week. Students will be asked to consider how these tasks relate to the topic at large. For the main assessed course components, students will be expected to do some research on a given topic and to produce a report in verbal and / or written form.
The class schedule will be flexible so that students’ interests in particular business-related topics can be incorporated into the course. Within the first few weeks of the course, students will be invited to suggest topics for inclusion in the course depending on their university major or their own personal interests.
