Outline (in English)
This class reinforces the development of a rich vocabulary and accurate grammatical knowledge, and based on this knowledge, aims at the comprehensive development of the four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking). In the science and engineering fields, English is the common language. Technicians and scientists of the future will need the ability to compaims at the comprehensive development of the four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking). Technicians and scientists of the future will need the ability to comprehend and communicate in English to meet the need of society for high levels of English. In order to meet this need, this class emphasizes the development of basic, comprehensive skills and knowledge and the ability to apply them. Based on the needs of students, a variety of effective approaches will be used to strengthen basic English competency.
We look at scientific topics, science and technology, social life, medicine, zoology, bioethics, universe and more. We aim at the comprehensive development of the four skills - reading, writing, listening and speaking.
Students are asked to check new vocabularies and read each unit before coming to the class and you should be able to summarize each paragraph.

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
この授業は、語彙力・文法力、構文などを確認しなが4技能（リーディング、ライティング、リスニング、スピーキング）の総合的な向上を目指す。グローバル社会における英語の役割も考え、将来の技術者・研究者に必要な専門知識を英語で受信・発信できる英語力に加え、高度な英語運用能力の習得を目指していく。学生の積極的な参加が大事となる。
到達目標Goal
科学とその恩恵を受ける現代社会に私達は身をおいている。国内外の科学技術、社会生活、医学、動物学、生命倫理と宇宙という様々なトピックに関する英語を読みながら、読解力や知識を高め、考える力を伸ばし、自分の考えを英語で表現することを目指していく。

予習が必要な部分と授業で行うところがある。読むことだけではなく、聞くこと、書くこと、話すことも行う。トピックに関する意見や考えを発表する時間、グループディスカッション、ミニプレゼンも行う。オリエンテーションで教科書の使い方、準備すべきことを説明の予定。リアションペーパーなどからいくつか取り上げ、全体に対してフィードバックを行う。
COVID−１９による感染状況により授業形態や成績評価の方法が変更する場合は、学習支援システムにて予定を提示するので確認のこと。
