Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
This course is intended for students who already feel fairly comfortable talking about everyday situations in English and want to be able to express themselves with more depth and precision. We aim to improve not only the 4 skills, but also vocabularies, grammar and sentence structures.
[Learning Objectives]
　Students will learn to discuss topics of general interest with an emphasis on expressing themselves. They will become more comfortable making short individual or group presentations in class. They will learn vocabularies related to the topics covered.

[Learning Activities Outside the Classroom]
　Students should expect to do homework every week to prepare for the activities in class. Most often this will consist of making notes for group discussions or presentations so that students are ready to participate.

[Grading]
Evaluation criteria is as follows;
Mini presentation 50% and assignment 50%.

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives

この授業は、語彙力・文法力、構文などを確認しなが4技能（リーディング、ライティング、リスニング、スピーキング）の総合的な向上を目指す。ニュース英語を使いながら、グローバル社会における英語の役割を考え、将来の技術者・研究者に必要な専門知識を英語で受信・発信できる英語力に加え、高度な英語運用能力の習得を目指していく。学生の積極的な参加が大事となる。

到達目標Goal

この授業では各トピックに関する語彙を確認しながら各自が自分の意見や考えを英語で表現できるようにしていく。グループワークやミニプレセンテーションを通じて練習をしていく。

There will be many pair and group activities in class to practice conversing and discussing in English. Students will also make mini presentations almost every week. Students are askes to express their opinions and thoughts in English.
